Catherine has a PhD and MSc (Hons) from the University of Victoria, New Zealand. For 15 years she worked in public-sector marine science roles in New Zealand and Australia, with a focus on bivalve shellfish safety and innovation. This involved developing science programmes to meet the needs of government and industry stakeholders in the food safety, market access and seafood innovation areas. Catherine is the Director of Seafood Safety Assessment Ltd, which offers food safety and market access advice to the seafood industry and government.
