Senior Aquaculture Innovation Manager
Robin Shields gained a PhD in marine biology from the University of Wales Bangor in 1990 and has more than 25 years of experience in applied aquaculture research and technology development. Having previously worked for Seafish UK, the Oceanic Institute and Swansea University (Director of Centre for Sustainable Aquaculture Research), Robin joined the SAIC team as an Aquaculture Innovation Manager in May 2016. As well as a deep technical knowledge, he has particular strengths in developing, supporting and delivering academic industry research projects, researcher relationship management, and international networking. Robin has specific scientific and technical expertise to SAIC in the areas of finfish broodstock management and hatchery technologies, recirculating aquaculture systems and algal biotechnology. He is an experienced aquaculture science practitioner and manager, with a comprehensive record of effective industry-academia collaboration gained in the UK and internationally.
